Daniel Stephenson (1989) Durham (England)
My name is Daniel Stephenson and I live in Durham, England. I got into cycling around a year ago; having lived in Amsterdam, Netherlands during 2016.
Whilst cycling around on my bike all day I had come to appreciate the feeling of freedom and time I had to myself to reflect on life and focus on decisions I had to make, something I had never really done before with great success.
Returning to England in 2017 I decided to embark on a charity bike ride which quickly escalated into organising my own event sponsored by my employer and other companies. In August 2017 we officially founded the Venture Tour de Branch, a charity bike ride across our region. We raised £4000 the first year and £10,500 in 2018, most importantly we managed to inspire people to get active in our area so that was most rewarding.
After the success of the aforementioned and finding light work of our training schedule I made plans to ride further and faster solo. Being such a competitive person Strava was a huge motivation to keep going and gave me focus to test myself against some of the more seasoned riders indirectly. Hopefully I can get a few more KOM’s soon
My goals for 2019:
– Complete my first competitive race
– Join a cycling team
– Ambassador some Instagram stores
If you plan to be in the North of England and want to ride, DM me on Instagram and we can meet up.
All the best .
