Paulina Lewandowska (1975) Solihull (UK)
Hello. My name is Paulina Lewandowska and I’m46 years old. I’m a teacher, I teach English Literature and Language to teenagers in Birmingham, UK. I was born in Kraków, Poland. I live in Solihull, a town set between the Peaky Blinders’ city of Birmingham and Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon.
I’m an ex long distance runner. I ran 4 marathons (Paris, London, Snowdonia and Berlin), one ultramarathon (Race to the Stones 100K), multiple half marathons, 10K, 5K…until my knees said: ‘No’.I started road cycling in 2014, so far, apart from various places in the UK, I cycled in the Polish Tatras, French Alps and Pyrenees, Italian Dolomites and Mallorca. I love cycling. The feeling of the wind in my hair and the road unfolding before me are my therapy and my joy. My partner is a cyclist too (a very good one!). In fact we met through our cycling club many years ago.
Being in a cycling couple is great: we plan and go on cycling holidays together, analyse Strava segments and chat about bikes (lots)! My aim this year is to ride 10,000 miles. My motto used to be: ‘If you break, you don’t win’ (M. Cipollini), but after a few serious crashes I adopted a new one: ‘The bicycle has a soul. If you succeed to love it, it’ll give you emotions you will never forget’. (M. Cipollini), which so far has been true on my cycling adventure. It’s a pleasure to become part of all black.cc.
